Happy Forever Memories

Memories, where do I begin! We met in 1951 and married in 1953. I was 21 and you 25. My mother passed away on the 19th December 1951 and three months after meeting, Tom, my mother said to me "If he stays with you during your illness he will be someone very special", because during this time I developed T.B and was to a sanatorium for a year. How proud my mother would have been to know we had been married for 62 years. You truly were very special. Tom made the journey over to the Isle of Wight every single weekend and during this time we became engaged In 1944 he went into the Royal Air Force and joined an Infantry Training Depot in Ballymena, N. Ireland. He joined the Parachute Regiment and was posted to East Surrey Regiment. Later was sent to Bombay. After the War, Tom tried several professions, one of which being a surveyor. He tried this for a while but decided it was not for him. He joined the Metropolitan Police Force and became Superintendent. Tom retired when he was 58 and we moved from Petts Wood to Eatbourne. He loved walking and so enjoyed the walk across the Downs and we so enjoyed our visits to the National Trust properties. Tom's family was his life - a great and loving father to Karen and Cheryl. One of the best Grandad's and Great Grandads. Tom, although you have left this world, you'll stay within my heart, guiding like an angel even though we are apart love is everlasting and so are my memories. Your legacy that's always there to light the way for me. Audrey x
